Problem with DNS or IE?

FTP, Messenger, IRC, gaming etc all work fine.

If I click on an external link in IE, 90% of the time I get a page not found unless I refresh. It just seems to time out but doesn't take that long to do it. Any ideas?

Edit: please ignore, just making an external link to test: Yahoo

Go to yahoo.com. If you can't get to it ping it. Yahoo still allows ICMP traffic I believe. If you can ping it by name but can't get to it via IE then you have an IE problem. I'd guess spy or malware.

Thanks. Frustratingly enough, Yahoo worked and so did links off of that. It's one of those things that bugs you but when you try to show someone else...

Btw, this can also happen if I select one of my Favourites from the menu. Just never seems to happen when I click an internal link. So like I can read a linked thread on ATOT, but if I go to pics.bbzzdd.com then I normally have to refresh every time.

I've been using the latest Adaware with updates to scan for spyware, every week or so. The problem's been going on for about a month now...
