Well i restarted my PC and now the screen is extremely dark and has lots of shadowing and horizontal lines.

I restarted 3 times, updated drivers, and still nothing.

Any ideas?
 
What's your system's spec, or at least the video card and monitor? If it's an LCD, is it using DVI or VGA?
 
If possible, try a different monitor and/or video card as a fact-finding step, to see if one of the two is faulty.
 
Is the problem existant in DOS mode also? If yes, its a definite hardware problem.

As mechBgon advised try a different monitor. If the problem dissappears, your monitor is faulty. If it doesnt, its the GPU.
 
my cousin just got a new flatscreen viewsonic crt and it has a line running thru it at high res it kinda went away but during post and bios u can see a flicker or part of the screen jumping or something i think his crt is bad the entire rig is new thou so not sure im gonna tell him to hook it up to his working dell and see if it still has problems
