PROBLEM with dialup password in WIN2k

I just setup a new dial up connnection in win2k and in the wizard I put in all the correct info and when I go to connect, my password is some long password instead of my real one. I tried changing it and starting over but still no luck. Anyone know what to do?

Which ISP do you use? Did it connected fine on the first connection, then it keeps giving you the wrong password errors on subsequent connection attempts even when there are numerous (************) present in the password box and the Remember Password is checked? If you retype the (*************) with your password it connects fine but don't want to do that right? Am I warm?

I know (older) Prodigy's software used to have such problem, which they initially said never existed, then came out with a patch later on. I know their newer software doesn't have that problem anymore. So you might want to try contacting your ISP to see if it's a known problem or if they have updated software. Don't be supprised to hear that the version of Windows you're using isn't supported or has limited support or that they tell you that there is no problem so it might be you or your system (setup = user) error. Good luck.

If I remember correctly W2K just puts the extra characters on the screen just for added security. If you leave it and just click connect it should be fine.

Yeah, this puzzled me too, but what thekid says - I can vouch for that. Just try it with the windows enhanced password
