Hi I own a Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop. This morning I noticed that the indicators on my laptop were blinking orange for some reason. Upon further inspection i found out that my battery is apparently in critical condition. When i took the battery out (leaving the laptop to be powered by the AC adapter) the indicators stopped blinking, and when i put it back it they started blinking again. The critical condition seems to be the battery being very low on power, which doesn't make sense because I always have the AC adaptor plugged in so the battery should be at full power unless I unplug it. Now it seems the battery isn't charging at all. Anyone have any tips as to how to solve this?

So the problem is why is my battery not charging?
thanks

How old is the battery? It sounds like you may have a shot battery.

The battery is probably dead and needs to be replaced.

As with all batteries, try to only charge when the battery is completely or close to being depleted.

I had the same problem on my dell Inspiron 8000. Turned out it was the motherboard that was faulty. Like the others have said, call dell since you are probably still under warranty. They will send you a new battery first, and if that doesn't work, you might have to send in your system (unless of course you have on site warranty). Hope this helps.
