problem with cookies

I DEFINITELY have cookies enabled using IE 5.5 (win98 se), yet I have problems on certain sites (half.com is one) resulting in either a message from the site saying I don't have cookies enabled, or just not being able to login, or use a shopping cart properly or anything you can think of that requires cookies. I have also tried the latest OPERA with the same bizarre results. Could it be something got whackoed in the registry? I have tried reinstalling with no success.

Please help.

Nope. Its a new system even, there's hardly anything on it. Whats strange is that cookies work in some instances on certain sites, just not on certain others.

Opera might disable third party cookies by default since they're usually for things like doubleclick. Make sure both programs aren't set to disable cookies or third party cookies.

You then might want to delete all the cookies already on your system. They might currupted which could be casuing the problems.

OK, downloaded netscape 6.1 and it works as default with cookies enabled. Still doesn't make sense though. I downloaded IE 6.0 and it didn't work by default with cookies enabled. I changed tools->internet options->privacy->advanced->override automatic cookie handling, but that didn't do anything either. I tried turing off ALL security, or putting it at its laxest levels but still no dice.

Ok, my system clock was set for 2002 instead of 2001. I've fixed it and all cookie related issues seem to have disappeared. Thanks for your help.
