Problem with conagent.exe (SETI question).

Okay, I know that to get rid of the nag notice, just go in to properties and uncheck "Warn if still active". No problem, works like a charm - ONLY on the system you happen to be using.

I want to setup the TA Cube install disks to replace the existing version of conagent on the user's system, with one that has been unchecked. Easy enough using xcopy in the batch file.

Here is the problem. When extracted on any system other then the one from which the file came, the "Warn" feature gets re-checked.

I tried making the file read only, but once it's zipped up and extracted, it nukes the attribute.

Any ideas?

Isn't there some .ini file floating around that does changes the properties, or something like that? I swear I remember seeing one.

Yep, the .PIF file contains the actual settings for DOS programs such as CONAGENT, so if you want to spread the same settings, just copy the CONAGENT.PIF file and you don't even need to worry about copying the .EXE file...

_default.pif works well, but you have to restart once. Modified conagent.pif even better, no restart. Thanks, guys!🙂
