Hey everyone, not exactly sure what could be the problem.
As of right now i'm running an intel p4 550, intel 915pbl mobo, ati x700 pci-x, 1gb corsair xms pc5400 ddr2 memory. My problem is, after i installed HL2, and i run the game, it "flickers" a lot. The screen comes up then down up and down. Like the signal from the video card is being shut on and off? And the game also "skips". Example, in the game, one of the character says "hello mister freeman" or something...instead it says like "hel hel hello mi mi mister freeman" i don't get why it would do this.
I read on ATI's website that only install the new drivers if i'm having problems with my old driver...which i'm not sure if i do or not, i read what exactly the new drivers fix, and i don't fall in any of those listings of problems. I did install NFSU2 but that game runs fine, UNLESS HL2 is installed.
Also, could it be a power supply problem? i have a 300 watt smart power antec PS, running a mobo, cpu, ram, pci-x video card, independent ultra ata controller, 3 hard drives, 2 cd drives...the PS does heat up much more than when i had my old config in the same case. any ideas? thanks for any input.
