Problem with compression on HD

Fabio

Senior member
I am trying to install windows. I've tried, 98, 98se, and XP. I fdisk a 10gb HD (maxtor) to one partition and format. When I go to install windows and it says it is going to run scandisk it says that it detects some disk compression or caching on the HD and recommends you abort. I tried to continue anyways but eventually the install crashes and will not work.

Anyone know what the hell it is talking about? I am not running any compression or caching program on the HD (atleast that I know of).

Any ideas would be appreciated.

PS
The problem is with the HD, if this is not a hardware question please let me know where I should post this.

Thanks
