I have comcast cable and I am using this cable modem. It keep randomly restarting. Whether its plugged directly into my computer or into my router makes no difference it just will randomly restart. When I say restart I mean I will be using the internet then I will notice I am not getting the internet. I look at the modem and all the lights shut off and then it comes back on and works again. Sometimes its once every 15 minutes, other times it wont do it for hours. Any ideas?

Thats what I figured. I am renting this one from comcast and they are coming out tomarrow. The new modem better not be ugly as this one is the nicest looking one I have used.

It might also be your RF signals on your cable line.
Might also be your cable modem is overheating. Be sure it is not in direct sunlight or near heaters.
If you touch it and you get burned, it is too hot. Move it somewhere away from heat sources, or buy a new one as it may be failing.
http://192.168.100.1 is a common web-based admin page for most cable modems.
Usually there are some logs in there you can check and might determine why it is restarting.
Call your cable company to have them investigate if you are not sure.
