Problem with booting Tails OS from usb

Hi there,

I just purchased a Dell Inspiron notebook and want to run Tails from a bootable usb (iso image was successfully installed on the usb).

When adding usb as a boot option in the BIOS (had to go to legacy boot), it prompted me to enter the name of the file to use. I chose BOOT64.EFI and that seemed to work, i.e. on reboot the Tails start screen appeared. However, then nothing else happened, the screen stayed dark / black. I left it for 5 minutes but the screen remained dark.

I rebooted and was able to start Tails in safe-mode, so I know it's not a problem with the usb or the iso image.
System specs:
  • Intel® Celeron® Processor N3060 (64-bit)
  • 2 Gb RAM
Is there another file that I should be pointing to?
Thanks,
J

Some BIOSes have an option to select OS type. See if your laptop has one, and make sure it isn't set to Windows if it does.
