Problem with Bind

I am having a serious problem with my Securecomputer Sidewinder Firewall running the BIND 8 nameserver.

I am running two internal DNS servers, one a Lucent QIP package, and one the NT 4.0 DNS server. They both have a forwarder set the the BIND 8 nameserver on the firewall. This setup ran fine for two days, but tonight the firewall stopped responding to DNS requests. Restarting named will bring it back up for a while but it eventually stops again. The logs show no errors only named being ready to accept requests. I am farily sure it isn't a problem with the internal DNS servers because of the two completely different packages, and the fact that recycling the firewall brings DNS back for a while.

Any suggestions?

Do you have any forwarders set up on the firewall?

Do you have any other forwarders set up on the Lucent or NT DNS boxes? or just the FW?

Can you update the BIND to current? I'm not really sure, but I thought BIND was up in the nines somewhere, with 8.X being the minimum for some security issues. Maybe one of the 'NixKopfs can give you some valid revs.....

FWIW

Scott
