Hi
My friend and myself bought two Presario 2800 notebooks about 4 months ago and we were very satisified with these machines until 2 weeks ago when my friend battery stopped charging although the computer is saying " 0% remaining -Charging" but nothing happen
Today , exactly the same thing happened to my computer although my use of the battery is very light
I tryed Compaq support but not helpful and the replacement battery is expensive

Any suggestion ?

Thanx in advance

Try taking out, and putting the Battery back in. Then if that does not work, even though battery power sayes it is at zero, try running it on battery as long as possible then try to charge it again.

Most new laptop batteries incorporate some circuitry that will give a report on condition and how far the batery has deteriorated since new. If the laptop does not have the required software to communicate with the battery, do a Google search on "laptop battery monitor software". There are a multitude of freeware and shareware programs out there that may give you a clue on what is wrong.

Battery power is zero ! the machine wouldn't run unless I hook it to the AC adaptor !

well, I used one of these softwares and it reports exactly what my PC showing " 0% remaining/charging"

My Sony Vaio reports the battery serial number, date of manufacture, % of capacity compared to when new, and projected time to discharge. Can you borrow a working battery just long enough to verify the problem. It would be a shame to pay a lot of money for a new one just to find that the problem lies elsewhere.
