Problem with Asus RoG PG278Q

Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone had any input that might help me. I just got done building a new gaming rig http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rvb2D3. Everything on it is working, but I can't get the Asus RoG PG278Q to work. I have it hooked up to another monitor via DVI and it works fine that way. All the latest drivers and BIOS's are installed. The PG278Q comes on fine, it displays the RoG logo and then says "No Signal" before going into standby so I know it has power.

I have tried all three of the Gigabyte G1's displayports. I even tried the motherboards displayport. I have tried multiple displayport cables. Unfortunately, it is the only computer I have with displayport, so I can't check it that way. The only input the monitor offers is displayport so I can't try anything else.

Is there anything I am missing here? Normally monitors are plug and play, but I just wanted to make sure there isn't something different with G-Sync. I read some old forum posts of people having similar problems and most just said it was a problem with the video card BIOS. No solutions though.

I called Asus and they just told me to take it back to the store I got it from. Unfortunately, it is 1 hour from me and I would like to avoid that if possible. I am also concerned that if I exchange it I will have the same issue with the next one. So now I am left wondering if I should just find a different monitor. Unfortunately, it is the only 1440p G-Sync monitor available at my local Micro Center.

Sounds like a defective monitor. You need to try it on a different PC. The retailer might be your only option.

99% it is monitor. Asus ROG PG278Q is not exactly known for great quality control... Some people had to go through 3 monitors to finally receive a quality one. But it is definately worth the trouble. 1440P 144hz Gsync gaming on 980 ti is the real deal!

Usually you have to enter the menu on the monitor(I don't know ROG so)and set it up for the input your using such as DVI HDMI, etc. Have you tried that? Doesn't your card have HDMI?

Monitor has a single input only and that is Display Port.

As a suggestion try booting with the dvi monitor and plugging in/enabling as a second monitor

I have 3 swifts and they were slightly troublesome with my new build.

Unfortunately if they don't show up as a secondary display then probably need rma.

Yeah, I've read about all the problems, but there isn't much option at this point for GSync. Not a fan of Acer and there isn't much other choice. Might have to try the Acer anyway, but I can't find it in stock. Either that or wait for new models, but then I feel like I am wasting the potential of the 980 ti on a 1080p 60hz monitor.

Yeah, it doesn't show up at all in the display properties. It isn't recognized at all.

I've been waiting for that to get released. The Acer version gets stellar reviews (when it works, QA for both companies needs some love).

Think I will just wait for the IPS version. Just hope I can find it available pretty soon.

Take a look at some of the Acer reviews. That'll give you a good idea as to what to expect since they use the same panel (I think).

So I decided to try the monitor with my laptop before going through the hassle of returning it. I picked up a mini-displayport to displayport cable and it worked. No problems at all. So I pulled the 980 ti on my new build and tried the monitor connected to the onboard video card. Still nothing. So I know the monitor works, but it doesn't work from either the onboard video or the 980 ti.

I called Gigabyte to see if they knew anything that might work and that was a total disaster. I spoke to some gal on the other side of the world who barely spoke any English. When I told her what my video card was, she wasn't even familiar with the model. I explained to her the situation and she just kept telling me that I needed to get a Dell LCD model whatever because that's what she uses, and she knows it is compatible and she doesn't know about any other monitor.

It is just frustrating because I know the monitor works, I just can't get it to work with my computer.
