I have own this card for over a month now, and the problem started ~4 weeks ago when my monitor went blank out of the blue ( I left it idle for 2 hours) and wouldn't recover when I shake my mouse or press the keyboard. When I check my graphics card the green LED behind turned red, and I had to recycle the power to get it working again. Strangely, this happens once every week ( without fail) for the past 4 weeks, but this week it happened twice. Reboot solves the problem. It happened at random times ( sometimes during the middle of a gaming session, which annoys me to no end), fortunately it hasn't happen while I'm typing my assignments ( yet).
What I've done:
- Reinstall drivers from CD - no help
- Update driver to latest version - no help
- I ran ATITool and Furmark to test for stability - both passed 2 hours no probs. Furmark temps were ~80C with 80% fan. Ambient is 27C.
- Temps during gaming ( I have 2 monitors in dualview so I can monitor my temps realtime during gaming) never exceeded 75C.
- I use Rivatuner to set the fan speed to 70% when Windows loads.
- There were no artifacts whatsoever during gaming.
- During the 'blackout', all other parts are working fine - I even hear sound from iTunes, so I don't think its my PSU.
I also notice random spikes with my GPU fanspeed and temps with Rivatuner's hardware monitor, even when my comp is idle. I will upload a screenie of that tomorrow.
If it helps, I'm using Antec 900 case and Antec TPQ 850W, along with a GA-EX58-DS4 MB.
Is my video card showing signs of dying?
Thanks for helping.
