lulz maybe this thread has reached their marketing department

Well... nothing is going to happen. I bought the speaker from an outfit named DealPros through Amazon. Altec Lansing immediately came back with "they're not an authorized reseller, so we're not honoring the warranty." Moral of the story: don't buy anything from Altec Lansing ever, ever, ever, ever, ever again.

Thanks for the heads up, and a bummer they couldn't help you out. Like I said I didn't even realize they were still in business. I haven't shopped for audio gear in quite a while and if I did I would check price/performance first and then go for brand names. Klipsch and Polk stick out in my mind as good bang for buck speakers.

Don't rule out somebody fixing this, but I would guess it would require a jailbroken device, as I can't see somebody going through all the trouble and dealing with getting it approved by Apple. Not sure exactly how that goes as I have never done that, but at least it is only a software problem. :\

While it sucks that your speaker doesn't work the way you want it to, I don't understand how this is a warranty issue or even really the manufacturers fault. The speaker still works with other devices, right? Isnt the problem with apple?

I honestly didn't even know they were still around.

I also have an inAir 5000 and I today set it up on my new home network. It doesn't matter in the slightest that you can no longer use the in inAir companion app - in the instruction manual it gives complete details on how to connect to your home network and Airplay.

Note, I am running ios8 on my ipad air 2 and the speaker works perfectly with Airplay. I would recommend you start from scratch by clicking the Wifi Connect button on the back of the speaker, connect to the InAir 5000 Setup wifi network, open your browser to http://192.168.1.12 and then follow the instructions from there. It takes about 5 minutes, max.
