I put in an unformatted CD-R and I can't get the software to give me a format prompt.

I have not used it in a while and I do not know what I should do.

the sotware opens (in Data CD).

I too am having problems with my Easy CD Creator 4.02. I haven't used it in a while. The last time I used it, everything was fine. But suddenly it's giving me strange mesages. I uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch, no go. I tried upgrading, no go. I just gave up, really.

It is a CD-R and I am sure that they are unformatted. The others I had to format. Plus I tried copying in My Computer and it ask me to put a CD in. Itis in.

I'm just messin with ya. That's a link to download Nero CD-burning software (trial version). I had all sorts of trouble, like the one you've mentioned in this thread with ez-coaster burner for years until i purchased nero.

I downloaded it and thanks.....no viruses. Can I execute this file without deleting Adaptec? Will there be any conflicts?

Whay is up with Adaptec which is now known and Roxio(?).

I thought that they were #1?

Yes you can run NERO and Adaptec at the same time. i do.

and you dont have to format CD-Rs because you can only writeh them once. ive actually never heard of formating a CD-R. Its most likely a CD-RW. and adaptec should do it.

But then again ive never had to do that either.

But as it was stated i woudl upgrade your version of Adaptec. You dont need to get Version 5. i still use 4.xx whatever teh last one is and it works fine.

But i woudl recomend NERO 5.xx newest one because it hs a lot more options for burning different kinds of CDs and in general just works better

Direct CD is for formatting CD-RWs, not CD Creator. They are known to have problems co-existing if they are allowed to run in the background together.

Also - as others have stated - upgrade from the Roxio site to the very latest version of EZ CD Creator.

I have both Nero and EZ . . . as long as they are not running together at the same time there should be no conflict. Actually, I like 'em both. :)
