Problem with a Maxtor Hdd..

Hi,

I have a Maxtor 40 gb hdd that I'm reformatting and partitioning. I used Maxtor's Maxblast software and it seemed to act sort of weird. It would just hang and didn't seem to be doing much of anything.

Anyway.. I then went at it the old fashioned way with format c and fdisk and now the drive only reads as a 32 gb drive, when it read at 39,xxx before. What could've happened?

Is there any way to get back the extra 7 gb's of hdd space? I thought that format c would take care of it, but apparently it's not.

TIA,

Sal

i think there is something in the faq about this. Some limitation of the fat32 with win98.
what os are you using?

Thanks for the reply. I don't know what happened. I do have it straightened out now though. As soon as I got done running format c in DOS, I ran another version of Maxblast. This time it was just Maxblast Plus instead of Maxblast 2 Plus.. When I partitioned and formatted this time, the software finally saw the drive as a 40 gb drive again. Weird.

Thanks again.

Sal
