:( That shouldn't be happening.

Usually, Id say contact the manufacturer, but I have e-mailed microsoft numerous times, and have NEVER recieved a response. They honestly have the worst support of any big company i have ever tried to contact.

hi,plzs follow his steps.......
firstly we shall try to solve your problem through the software i,e operating system, your problem might be due to the operatin system not installed in proper manner,it might have left the drivers that r to be instaled during setup, for this u either reinstal the OS or u better change the OS to WIn 2000 or Win 98 and see,if this doesnt solve then move on to the hardware side, where u motherboard is instaled .firstly check for the connections on the conectors,if all of u r conections r correct, then the probelem might be in u r connectors of u r keyboard or u r mouse(some pin might have been damaged)get u r friends mouse or keyboard install it and checKif silll u do not get the solution check for u internal connections of u r motherboard connectors or either take u r motherboard to u r manufacture and ask him to test .........there might not be any problem with u r motherboard...just chech for OS,conectors ,PINS,Motherboard Connectors.....PLZS INSERT THE CONNECTORS IN THE PS/2 TIGHTLY OR CHECK FOR U R DRIVERS IN THE DEVICE MANAGER......

What happened with your first post?

What model from what manufacturer do you use?

for the keyboard and mouse to work, I have to unplug them then plug them back in. It gets kinda tireing doing this every time I boot up. I think they go into sleep mode when XP is loading.

The problem is that some bus powered devices don't come back up quickly enough after the system has (re-)started the USB root hub. If newest drivers (SP2) didn't help, plugging them into a different port might help (because you might happen to then be on one that gets scanned later). Alternatively, plug them into a self-powered hub.

Are you using the latest manufacturer-specific drivers for your mouse?

Keyboard shouldn't need any, though...or do USB keyboards use software drivers like mice do?
