My hdd isn't doing nothing.

Do you all have a hint?

It is a Fujistu 4Gig, don't know anything else...

Well it worked, up to today, when a friend put it into another computer... Now it isn't spinning anymore, it only makes knocking noises...

Is it dead, or only a software problem?

The OS on it is Win98

Well I can assure you your HDD is now toast, check out the following link below, it's IBM and has different sounds of hard drive failure, that way you'll know. My guess is the head on the HDD has failed, causing the knocking soudns. However, some people had refrigerated the HDD for a little while and were able to sucessfully boot up and back up their files, but this doesn't always, work, but basically that drive's gone.

Ok, I checked out your noises, none of these fits exactly, but I am guessing that its heads are bad, like you said...

That is what I thought... The file badhead 1 without the spinning is exactly my noise...

Thanks, anybody else? Some experiences???
