Problem with a 75 camaro

Hi, thinking about buying a 75 Camaro for a project as something I can just mess around with. Problem 1: the car has a knocking noise, I do not think it’s the engine because it doesn’t make the noise when it’s in park at all, it only makes the noise when you put it into gear and start giving it some gas. Flex plate? Problem 2: the car stays running when it is in park and you can rev the engine all day long when it is in park, however when you put the car in drive give it a little bit of gas and take your foot off completely the RPMs will go down and the car will die. Fuel pump is brand new, carb is brand new. Any ideas? I really want a camaro for a project because they are cool cars.

"Problem 1: the car has a knocking noise," Ok it is a knocking noise or like something else...? Like a fan hitting or...?

"Problem 2: the car stays running when it is in park and you can rev the engine all day long when it is in park," Sounds like to carb is out of adjustment...? Or something pretty simple such as this...?

Oh and yes the 1975 Camaro`s were pretty cool cars... ;) (I`ve had all except for the 67-69`s and the 2010`s till now)

Does the knocking increase in frequency as the car moves faster?
Does it make a clunking when putting car into gear?
If yes, the universal joints are bad.

The second problem could be a mis adjusted carb, or a vacuum leak.

If you put it in drive, hold the brake and give it some gas (load the engine), does that reproduce the noise?

If so, possibly main bearings.
