I've had a stange problem with my graphics card. After a random amount of time of playing counter strike : CZ my graphics card hangs on a black screen or a VPU recovery scrren comes up. It happens everytime no matter what if i run Teamspeak and play counter strike : CZ at the same time. I know the problem isn't my power because i have a 450 watt. I also had 1 question. I only connected one line from the graphics card to the power supply the other end remained unattached. Does my system hang because it doesn't get enough power when running 3D-based programs? Could this be my problem? However, my graphics card never hangs when I'm not playing some 3D based game. If the answer to my question is yes, does that mean that i have to do exactly as the manual says?
(card -> power supply, and card-> HD)

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for the help!

Sounds like maybe a driver conflict. Do you have the newest chipset drivers and maybe try drivercleaner to take out any old drivers. Or heat does your case have good ventilation, the 9800 pro runs hot.

It happens if i use old or new chipset drivers. i get them from www.soyousa.com.
Im guessing the heat is ok because I can touch the aluminum and it is barely warm.
I recently redid my system (reformat , re-install programs) to try to correct this problem. However, it did not fix my problem

I think the heat sink should be hot. Anyways can you try the card on a different system?

Nope... it isn't the heatsink.
right after i flashed my 9800 pro into an xt it didn't hang for a while.
Then, it started happening again. And once my VPU gets revoered i get weird colored boxes in my counter strike window.

Yes, i connected the power right. The clock settings are set to default. COuld it be a faulty agp slot?
