Problem with 512GB Crucial M4 SSD?

Hi,

Is anyone able to help me determine whether I have a problem with the above drive?
I'm trying to run PGP Whole Disk Encryption which is failing and reporting I have bad sectors. I've run chkdsk a couple of times, the first time it reported as having fixed some bad sectors, second time it didn't repair any but reported I had: 3328 KB in bad sectors.

I've run crystal disk info and it reports the following:

Is anyone able to help me to interpret these S.M.A.R.T values and determine whether I have a problem?

Yes, this screen shot shows very high error rate, I think you qualify for a free replacement.

I am interested in knowing how crucial will handle it, and how good are their support, please share the details how will they handle it.

tried replacing / checking the sata cable connecting your drive? it would not be the first time a crappy sata cable gave high error rates.

They've agreed to test it and replace if they determine it to be faulty.
Posted it yesterday so will let you know what they come back with.

It's in a laptop so there is no SATA cable. Thanks

Just received an email from Crucial:

We have tested the drive as per your request, and it seems that the drive is faulty. We will be replacing this for you under warranty.

Overall I'm pleased with the support from Crucial. Fingers crossed that the replacement is not faulty as I've wasted a lot of time trying to get the original to work.

That's odd because I have 4 x 256GB Crucial M4s and they all show the same numbers as yours. I have not had any issues with them whatsoever.

This is for one of my drives. They all show the same thing. A friend of mine also purchased a 512GB M4 with FW 040H on it, and it shows the same data for SMART. His has only been powered on for 10 hours.

01, BB, C3 are the reason that I said the original drive is failing, 'C3' is not very important, but '01' indicates bad NANDs.

Your smart data is not showing similar errors.

C7 is probably relating to SATA cable being loosely connected, or need replacement.

You're talking about the 'raw values' correct?

Yup, I think that every increase of 1 means a sector/bock read error.

So, the 7C hex ( 124 decimal ) means 124 read error.

I am not 100% sure though, you might need to check some documentation to be sure.
