Problem With 2 Side-By Side Laptops

I have a wireless SMC2804WBRP-G router and two laptops with Intel 2200BG internal mini PCI wireless cards.

If laptop A is already on with working wireless, turning on laptop B and using its wireless usually has problems. It'll find the router and try to connect but stops at "Acquiring network address". It happens both ways as well.

If I reboot the router then both computer will get a working wireless connection.

The laptop don't have to be side by side but even when they're in the same room. I don't seem to have the problem if they're in different rooms. It doesn't matter if both laptops are right beside the router or if they're both in another room. Both machines are running Windows XP.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

They were both assigned different IPs, so I don't think that was the issue.

I actually found some newer firmware that was not available on SMC's website and everything seems to be good.

Thanks.
