problem with 2 monitor setup

i have a Nvidia geforce 6800 with latest drivers, and im having trouble setting up 2 monitors....
the only modes i seem to be able to set up are Clone (where both are the same stuff showing) and horizontal span where it stretches across both monitors....

on my old radeon there was a way where it didnt clone but it didnt strech everything, effectively you had twice the desktop space, but when you maximized something it only maximized to the size of one monitor, in the horizontal span mode if i maximize something it spans across both monitors, and you can imagine that is quite anoying...

anyone know how to get it to the mode i want? let me know if i need to give a better description

Are you setting this up in some nvidia control panel, or in normal display properties?

I don't know how to do it with a single video card. I run two monitors with two video cards installed, one AGP and one PCI. Both cards have nVidia chips, so they use the same uinversal nVidia driver. Granted, I did this because my AGP will not support two monitors. Anyway, thought I would mention the two card option.

ooooo thank you !

the problem was the windows wasnt noticing the second monitor
only the nvidia control panel
but its working now

thanks for all help
