Just recently purchased another stick of corsair xms 512mb, got a good deal on it. Pluged it in, lilttle disapointed that i had to take out my video card(gf3ti200) to fit it in my p4b533 and booted up. Got into windows and the computer restarted. p4 1.8a@2700 150fsb 1.6v. lowered all my ram settings and it booted into windows and then blue screened in a couple of minutes. Lowered my oc to 133 fsb default voltage boot up and sofar no problems but i havent done extensive testings yet (prime/memtester). Now i am wondering what are my options...

1.raise my ddr voltage. heard that could kill a stick so i want to avoid doing that. but if it's fine i wouldnt mind trying it.

2. Pull out the ram and wait for dc ddr boards. How will those boards work for us overclockers? Or will i have the same problem i am having right now.

3. play around with mem tester and prime 95 and find a stability that will be close to my speeds before i added the ram.

4. spend even more money and buy 2 pc3500 ram? would like to avoid that. spent too much money getting corsair into canada. customs fees, gst and fees, fees, fees.

I would appreciate ANYTHING that might help my current situation.

1. Set your DDR voltage to at least 2.7V or 2.8V if you mobo supports that. It will be fine at this temp. I am guessing you have 2 stick of 512mb ram now.

2. If you have 1gig of ram, are you sure you need that much... are you into video editing.

3. Let ram burn in for a week and then try uping the voltage. Burn in = 133fsb like you have and default Voltage for ram.

4. save your money.

It may work better for us!!!;) As some reports have leaked out said current GB test boards only have 1:1 ratio available.....You were likely running 3:4 ratio at 150fsb and found out something many have that some sticks will not run that high in a tandem. You likely will need to back way off of memory timings to possibly lowest.

At current a guy (the site owner) at hardocp.com has a GB mobo and it only has 1:1 ratio and he is running 2 sticks in tandem with a 188fsb for 376mhz ddr with the most conservative timings....

For us high fsb guys, if there is only 1:1 ratio we stand to be able to push our memory to the highest levels which may not be much anyways. I have a 171fsb so I could get 342mhz ddr or better the pc2700 ram or about 4000 in sissoft sandra scores...Dual pc2100 should be about 3400 which is pc1066 levels so not bad for older memory sticks!!!

Duvie, maybe you don't spend enough time with your wife, just stick around in forums... Don't get me wrong I have similar problems ;)

Detselom - Hang in there guy. I had the same problem as you but my 2 sticks of RAM are running fine at DDR400 now. Here's my story:

I was running a P4B266 with a 1.8A OCed to 128FSB, and 2 x 512MB sticks of Corsair XMS 2700. RAM was running 100% stable at DDR340 for months.

I went to build a new rig on a P4B533E with a 2.26B and 2 x 512MB of Corsair XMS3200c2. I planned on running it at 150 FSB which would have run the memory at 400DDR (PC3200). I figured it would be a slam-dunk to run the RAM at it's rated speed since I had been successfully OCing my PC2700 RAM.

I put it together and fired it up at 150FSB, memory set at SPD (2-3-3-6 on this board), Vdimm at board default (2.6V), loaded Windows, blah, blah.... I ran Memtest86 and got errors after about 4 hours. Bummer, so I lowered the FSB to 145 and tried again. Still got errors. I had to go down to 137 FSB before it was stable at 2-3-3-6. SO then I backed off on the timings to 2.5-3-3-7 and started to raise the FSB. Got to 142 and got Memtest86 errors. Raised the Vdimm to 2.7 and was able to get up to 145FSB (387DDR) and run Memtest86 100% error-free for over 18 hours.

After listening to people on the forums I decided I should be happy that I was able to run 2 sticks together at all on an 845 board, let alone at 387DDR so I figured I'd leave it there and be satisfied. I left it for a few weeks but, hey I'm an OCer at heart so I just couldn't leave well enough alone. I decided to try 150FSB again.

Set it to 150FSB and started to run Memtest86 again. 19 hours later it was still humming along with zero errors. How about that! Maybe there's some truth to this "burning-in" theory after all! It's been running at this speed for a few weeks now and I've had no problems.

So, my advice to you is to let it run for a while, then try again to run it faster. Maybe RAM gets better with age.

Worst case, you've got two sticks for dual DDR.

2.7V @ DDR387 for about 3 weeks. I wasn't intending it as "burning-in" per-se, it just ended up that way.
