I have a ic7-g abit mobo. I currently have an 80gb sata HD, a 160gb sata HD and a dvd burner hooked up in regular ide. I got a 200gb from staples on BF and wanted to hook it up. I tried pluging it in to the sata-3 input but the bios didnt recognize it. I currently have it set up to enhanced mode with sata-1 going to ide3 and sata-2 going to ide-4. Ide1-slave and both ide2's (master and slave) are empty. I have 4 sata ports so why isnt the bios seeing that i have 3 drives hooked up to it. When i disabled the ide2 channel, the windows drive wouldnt boot. I figured that maybe taking out that channel would allow the 3rd and 4th sata drives to come online. help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with that Mobo but some which have SATA and PATA give the user the choice of either or but not both so the Optical Drives you are using may be the problem...

I had to enable sata onboard pci device in teh bios. THen i had to install a sata raid driver in windows. after that i ran the maxtor installation cd and it partitioned and formatted the new drive. thanks for the help.
