Problem Updating BIOS on DS3

I am having quite a time getting the BIOS updated on my DS3. The basic problem: I have no floppy drive, and I am using Vista RC1.

For some reason the @bios program that Gigabyte uses to update the BIOS does not work with my Vista OS (If it works for someone else, I would love to know what I'm doing wrong). Any attempt to use the @bios just crashes the program. Here is a list of the things I have tried:

1. Running @bios included on the CD (no dice)
2. Running the updated version from Gigabyte's website (nothing)
3. Running both versions in WindowsXP mode (nada)
4. Giving full Administrator privileges to the program (I wish)
5. Swearing profusely (theraputic, but ineffective)

Is there some way I can make a bootable CD that will just run the BIOS update Flash file? Or barring that, is there someone who could afford me a clue, as I seem to be fresh out?

Thanks for reading!

I thought I had read that you could use a thumb drive. (edit from boot of course)

Try searching on that first.

Plug in a USB key, go into bios and press the boot menu key, and choose the usb key.

Well, I have tried my best, but I can't get the machine to understand that I want it to boot from the USB drive. I have fixed the boot order (USD HDD)in the BIOS, I have fixed the drive order within the boot order menu (Scandisk USB - Hard drive, etc.), but it just hangs when it tries to boot.

What am I doing wrong? I feel so stupud...

can you download the driver from the site? I think it is a standalone .exe that you dont have to use @bios.

better yet call gigabyte. They are very helpful

I have read and tried many a ways to get my USB key (Sandisk Cruzer Micro 512) to be bootable, but so far, all it does is hang and not boot to the key.
