I have an older pc, win.98 with a rockwell modem 56k. The past few days, when i am online for awhile, i get thrown offline and a window pops up and says: "Your connection to iwvisp (which is my internet provider) has been terminated, would you like to reconnect". It even does this when I am playing a game on multiplayer.
I called my internet service, and they said it may be a timout. That timeout never happend before. I would leave it online for 3 or 4 hrs and never get a timout but occasionaly. So i explained it even happens while playing a multiplayer game (Red Alert 2 on Gamespy), and they said that shouldnt happen. They said it may be my phoneline, (which I have a long line coming from a phone jack from a difernt part of the house to my pc), or it may be my modem. I reinstalled the modem by going to Settings/control panel/modems. Tryed it and after 40 min or so, or playing a game it happend again.
Could it be a phone jack problem, my extra long phone line, or modem? Or could it be that the acess numbers i use to dial up have a new kind of timeout? And would a timeout have that "Your Connection has been Terminated messege? Any suggestions? Thanks
