I just put in a maxtor 200GB, but windows only shows 128GB of it. It's partitioned as one large drive and I've already made sure that I have the most recent BIOS for my motherboard installed that should support drives larger than 137GB and I have downloaded a utlilty from maxtor that is supposed to enable 48-bit LBA in the registry, but windows still only shows it as 128GB even after deleting the partion and creating a new one.

any ideas??

here's the setup on my system.

windows xp (sp1 installed)
abit kg7-raid with the DS BIOS installed
drive is currently installed as primary slave on the HPT-370 raid controller.

In computer management, check and see if there is a second partition of unallocated space that shows up. Your extra space may be hiding there

it's not.

it only shows a single partition of 128GB. I even deleted this partition and created a new one after I installed the update from maxtor and it still only shows a single 128GB partition.

I would say that it has something to do with the 48-bit LBA not working somewhere because the amount of space your getting would be typical in that situation. Does the raid card have ATA100 or ATA133.

Check Windows help database, for enabling 48-bit LBA in Windows.
Also, update your motherboard BIOS/drivers.
