I am unable to reinstalled WINDOWSME, which I used for over a year. The problem comes up when it boots after the initial installation and it attempts to seek plug and play devices.
I have an ABIT KT7RAID MOBO with to IBM HDD drives running in RAID 0. I?ve tried the following:
Removed the RAID from HDD?S, deleted the boot sector, zero filled and low level format each HDD using IBM utility tools. Re-created my raid, FDISK and formatted the drives as one.
Re-installed WINME and the problem still come up, the error as to do with the KERNEL32.DLL or EXPLORE.EXE missing or corrupted or the dreaded blue screen with and encoded binary number. I am however able to installed WIN98SE with no problem, but if I try to upgrade to WINME THE SAME PROBLEM ACCURS? Any info will be appreciated.

Question: Do you have any other disks on which you have partitions or a zip drive, floppy and a CD-rom , sitting on non-RAID controller? Problem here is that windows sometimes tries to assign those drives first letters before assigning them to the boot disks in your raid, and when windows gets ready to run off of RAID, it doesn't see the files coppied on c:
Try disconnecting, all the drives you don't use, copy windows install disk to hradrive, boot from floppy and install from c:
Hope this helps.
