Problem reconnnecting to internet

I have a desktop which is connected with cat5 cable to a dlink wireless router and a laptop connected to the router with a wireless card. When my desktop comes out of standby I am able to download e-mail with MS Outlook but am unable to surf the net till I reboot. No problems with the laptop.

Any suggestions?

I'm feeling some plastic explosives primed with several pounds of black powder and an empty field somewhere. That oughtta take care of it.

OR you could just turn off standby?

Actually if I wanted to "just turn off standby" I wouldn't need someone from a forum to tell me that now would I?

Many Wireless components do not do well in Standby. As far as they are concern they lost the connection and they get upset.

So the advise is similar to the above do not use Standby with wireless.

But its NOT my wireless laptop that is losing the connection, its my desktop which is connected to router with CAT 5 cable which is losing ONLY the internet. Am still able to download the mail with Outlook.
