I just built a new machine with the above components. All the fans turn on as if everything is going to work. But, nothing ever displays on the monitor.

The Soltek board has a debug LED that follows this pattern:

FF -> C1 -> C3 -> 24 -> 25 -> 29 -> 26

26 then stays on indefinitely. According to the manual, FF is boot, C1 is a memory check and the other numbers are unspecified. I contacted Soltek and they said that 26 will only show when trying to overclock. They instructed me to clear the CMOS and try again. Still the same problem.

I know there is not a lot of data here to go by but this is all the feedback that the system is giving me. I'm guessing that I have a faulty component but would welcome any other suggestions of what to try. Otherwise, my question to the experts on this board is, can anyone give me a clue as to what is the most likely culprit here? What is the most common component that is failing when this sort of thing happens?

I'd like to keep my RMA's to a minimum as Newegg requires that I pay delivery.

Do you have an old video card (PCI) to see if you can at least get booted up with that? If it does boot up, then at least we know it is either the card, or the PCIe portion o mobo.
It is all about eliminating one piece at a time.
Have you tried one stick of RAM? How about 1 stick of RAM you know works in another PC?
Good Luck.
Have you posted in the Soltek thread where Lydia from Soltek checks daily? She may be able to help, or somoene else in that thread who has the board could.

Here are two threads you may find help in...

O yes, one other thing, if you have a PCI video card and it does boot up, it could be a weak PSU, not enough juice to power the PCIe X800XL. Again Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice. I have been in touch with Soltek support. Their conclusion was that they've never seen this before and that I should look at getting a replacement.

Unfortunately, I don't have any spare parts to test with. I had a PCI video card but when I moved a couple months ago, I tossed it because I hadn't used it in years. DOH! All the other technology is so new that none of my friends have parts that I can test with.

I did try to boot up with one memory stick and then the other with no success. I don't suspect it is the power supply though. First off, I'm not even connecting a hard drive or optical drive. Just the motherboard and fans. Secondly, 380 W should be plenty for that system.

I called NewEgg, and decided to send back the Motherboard, CPU and memory. They are going to test them for me and replace whatever needs to be replaced.

I'll reply back to this post when I find out the problem just in case others run into the same thing.

Update to this post...

The problem ended up being the video card. I replaced the MB, CPU and memory and had the same problem so I then replaced the video card and the machine finally posted.

What a relief!
