Problem Overclock

Recently I built a new system consisting of the following:

EVGA 8800GTX
Gigabyte P35C-DS3R
Intel Q6600 B3 Stepping
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
Seagate 320gb HD
Corsair HX620

I didn't try to overclcok the first few days but attempted today. First thing I did was update the bios to F4g and then I go into the bios and set the frequency at 280 from 266 and I save to CMOS and it rebooted. Well once I see something on the screen the system restarts and it resorts to the old frequency. when I try a higher FSB like 300 I get this annoying high pitched screech coming from I don't know where but it does the same thing. Is this a bad board or something? What should I do about this problem?

Thanks!

I tried that, got it to go to the windows login screen but when I tryped my password, blue screen appeared and said it was dumping physical memory. Then rebooted and loaded old settings.
