Aluminium foil. :Q

You must be crazy!! Of course the answer is a bucket of water. When is the last time you got a static shock underwater??

I sure hope you're kidding...

But yes, aluminium foil is an excellent anti-static 'bag'. Remember that it's ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) which is responsible for the 'death' of components, not static itself. Aluminium foil, being a conductor, will prevent the build up of electrostatic charges.

Wrap it in lots of paper towel, then aluminum foil. DON'T just wrap foil around it :)

That is not a static charge...

Of course I was kidding, and I hope you were kidding about wrapping it with aluminum foil, that is a pretty good conductor last time I checked.

Like I explained, aluminium foil is suitable for an anti-static bag because it is a conductor. It prevents ESDs.

If there was any type of charge outside of the aluminum it would be conducted through it. Static is a biaach IMO. Wrap the thing in rubber, get a sheet at a hobby store or something.

Do you know how anti-static bags work?

sounds like the best idea ;)

For those suggesting aluminum foil, that is a BAD idea.

Anti-static bags work great for setting up a motherboard outside a case - I had my Tiger MP up & running for a week sitting on a large anti-static bag. Try doing that with aluminum foil.

No, no substitution.
