I just did an upgrade of cpu/memory/motherboard/video card and am running into a problem. After I turn on the system I get no beeps and nothing on the screen. I don't even make it to the post. Everything turns on but what is strange is that the cpu fan does not turn on instantly, there is a few second delay before it comes on. I am able to power the system down by holding the power button for a few seconds but other than that I am not able to do a thing. I have removed everything that I can to diagnose the problem (hdd, cdrom, add in cards) but I am still stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx. Oh yea the videocard is an XFX 7600gt PCI-E card.

I think I found my problem. I took everything out except for the cpu and get a rapid beep sound. I was taking parts out piece by piece and it was not until I took the ram out that I had this problem. I am going to try different brand ram and see how it works. I have Buffalo Select DDR2 5300 right now.

Mine would not post until I plugged my cpu fan into the northbridge fan header, and disabled the thermal management in BIOS.

if it is the intel stock fan, then it is not uncommon for it to not boot up immediately. As for your memory, you could try a different brand or just one of them at a time if you are using two sticks. keep us up to date with how things go

..you can shut of the "smart fan" function in bios. Then the fan will stay on from the start.

You should go through the official DS3 thread, there's quite a few answers in there.

The beeps indicate you have a couple of problems, one may be the optical drive. My board wouldn't post or go to bios until i connected a cd drive.

This makes no sense. I have installed some crucial ballistix ddr2 800 ram in and I am still having a problem. I have read about others using the crucial ballistix without a problem. I get no beeps and nothing on the screen. If I could just get in I could make a few changes. I was able to boot the chip on another motherboard until I set the ram timings too high so I know the chip works. Do you guys have any advice before I switch back to my old rig?
