Problem might be due to video card (6600GT)

I received Prince of Persia (2CD) and Splinter Cell (DVD) with my Leadtek 6600GT... now i installed my card, drivers, etc. and i started playing Splinter Cell... i played for an entire evening and everything went well, the game running silky smooth.... then i tried Prince of Persia. the game was running nice and smooth... until everything stopped and its as if my computer went into sleep mode... and the only thing i could do was to restart... i tried again... and everytime this happened (at a different point in the game... once even during a movie...), i uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers... what should i do now... and is this really due to the card???? o a problem in the software??? thanks a lot for your help

First off ..... whats the rest of your computer?

why did you uninstall/reinstall the drivers? Was that the only way to get it working again?

It doesn't sound like a problem with the graphics card its self to me, i think its either a driver glitch, which is unlikely because the game shipped with the card, or its cpu or ram related.

Yeah there are lots of different NVIDIA drivers out there, try stick with the official ones (not the beta).

I've got a 3500+ newcastle, 1GB Kingston KVR, 160GB Hard Drive, 430W PSU from Antec (True) and a Pioneer DVR 108 DVD Player...

i just installed Rome total war (CD) and it does the same thing...

my cpu runs cool and i've been doing other stuff without any problem... could be my dvd drive though (splinter cell is on DVD while the two other games are on CD)

I installed the new drivers from nVidia, the new firmware from Pioneer and lowered the resolution in rome total war... i played for two hours yesterday and it seemed to be alright... i'll try at higher resolution and see what's up...
