Problem loading W2k in a dual boot

I reformatted my hard drive, 3 partition, 1 for W2k, installed it first, one for XP installed it 2nd, and another for game and whatnot.
So when I boot up I have the option of loading W2k or XP, I started using XP, I don't remember if I ever went to W2k after installing XP to see if it worked, but now when I try to go into windows 2000 it locks up at the start up screen.

So any ideas on how to fix this?

Did you ever check 2K at all? It doesn't sound like a boot loader problem - installing XP after 2K should handle that flawlessly.

And when you say "start up screen", what screen do you mean exactly - the boot loader screen or the 2K splash screen?

I was running W2k for a few days before I installed XP, so it did work for awhile. I mean it locks up at the splash screen where it says its loading windows and has a progress bar going across.

If it locks up at the splash, then the problem doesn't have anything directly to do with the dual boot. When you say "games and whatnot" for the 3rd partition, were you by any chance trying to install programs for both OS's into that partition?

Yes I was. I thought I read somewhere to do that so that you didn't have to install a program twice, one for each OS.

I've been using XP since I set up the dual-boot, and have been installing programs in a separate partition. I don't think that I've used Win2000 to run any of those programs in that partition since I set up the dual boot.

So what do I do?

Read on the FAQ that it might be a problem installing MS Office on one partition for 2 OS's. I have MS Office installed on my partition for games and stuff. But I don't think I've ran office in Win2000 yet, I installed it from XP. In that same partition I have installed: No one lives forever 2, winamp, winace, winrar, winzip, kazaa, easy cd creator 5, Medal of Honor and spearhead.
