I am getting an error trying to install... after it goes and reformats the boot partition and asks to reboot, I get a "Cyclic Redundancy Check". I have no clue as to what this is... it says its something w/ the CD or the drive... but I've used both of my CD drives as well as downloaded and burned another copy. In any case, if any of you have any ideas... let me know...

CRC error - means that the data being read is corrupt. Either the CD burn was bad, one or more of the files you downloaded are bad or the system is having trouble reading the drive properly for whatever reason. You might want to try copying the files from the CD to the hard drive and install from there.

I tried to burn another disk... nothing, I know its not the data... many people are using the same downloadable version of XP, I even re-downloaded it just in case. I also used two different CDRoms, nothing...

anywho... not sure what exactly is going on... i tried messing w/ some bios settings (pio/udma settings) just for fun... but still nothing. If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

i'll try copying the files over to the HDD and installing from there too. thanks.

Which image of XP are you using? I had trouble with the MSDN iso image and had to fix it myself. (I think their posted image is still corrupt.)

What are you using to burn the ISO? I got a similar error with 3 versions of XP, and I was always using Nero. When I downloaded RC1, I burned it with FireBurner, and it worked fine...

I am having problems installing any build after 2465. I installed Win2k, Winxp 2465, and ME fine. But the later build of xp, when I go to format it to NTFS, I get an error that says either my drive is damage or the RAID is not terminated properly. I got the Abit KT7a_RAID with 1GHZ unlocked athlon, unlock 200FSB to 266FSB.
If I format it to FAT32 then it will copy system files and then won't boot into windows. Then funny thing is all the build from 2465 or older installed fine and win2k and ME installed fine.
But the later build says it cannot format b/c it cannot access the drive. It detect my two drives in RAID fine and it keep showing up that there is a drive with 0MB on it that is not accessible.

Any help or hints would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
