Problem installing Windows XP

so i moved all my necessary files from my C drive to D, now trying to do a clean install, but everytime i try even after formatting the drive to NTFS, windows says something like "the format of this drive is not recognize, but format to either FAT32 or NTFS so that windows can recognize it" all my drives are NTFS and it wont install on any of the drives, what gives? and the order that it lists my drives in set up is as follows D, C, F always used to show C first.....please help, thanks....

Have you tried removing the partitions too, and then reformating?

problem was my driver jumpers werent sitting correctly, i had my main drive on ide2 master, switched it around and VOILA! =) thanks for answering anyway....
