Problem installing volcano 11..

Regs

After the 20 tries to get the clip on the socket I had success. After connecting the 3 pin to 4-pin power adpater, plus plugging the yellow wire to the Fan1 connector on the mobo, then using one of the power cables I plugged in the 4 pin connecter to the other power supply wires then boom. Turned on the computer but it just kept powering on and off without posting.

Stuck in my old HSF and everything works ok again, except my AMD now runs 6-8c hotter because of the lack of thermal compound.

Any success stories with the use of the volcano 11?

You may have the heatsink on backwards. The underside will have a step cut into it. Orient it so that the step is over the raised, solid-plastic end of the CPU socket. In this photo, the end with the step is at the right (you can also tell that end of the heatsink because the screwdriver-tip fitting of the clip is at that end).

Resetting your cmos should temporarily fix that. I just switched cases and also installed a thermaltake 11 and had the exact same problem.

Resetting the cmos got me booted up, but when I set my ram back to the correct speed it crashed again. I've had this ram a while and know it to be good.

I then noticed that it wasn't reading anything connected to a certain IDE cable I had just bought. Once I put an old one back in, everything worked great. I returned the cable, and they told me I may have just had it backwards.

Hope that helps.
