Problem in IE

alright... I have an issue... I've got a character who is having problems accessing the internet. He was browsing checking stuff out... looking at email and such. Then he wanted to change his password and do some clean up on his machine. So he went into control panel, reset his password, and then went to add remove programs. He removed Gain... says he had a friend on the machine and she was doing some stuff I guess and what ever she downloaded put gain on his machine. He removed that along with spygame as he thought by name it was also spyware. Now after all the little computer maintenance he clicks to open IE, and it gives him an error. The error says something to the affect of can't access data from 'ac' and gives a 32.dll error. Anyone have ideas for a fix on this one. I'm about to go to his house and see if I can't come up with something by sitting there and playing with it. But any ideas would be helpful

Thanks

Ummm... Yeah... cause uninstall IE and reinstall seems all but too obvious. I got to his house and that was the first thing I did. Still yet... no go. It was more than just IE though... which wasn't something he described to me when he got to the barracks. I would open up just my computer and the error would come up. I'd hit okay and then the drives and such would pop up no problem. With IE though... It would pop up with the error and IE would load the home page in the back ground. You'd hit okay on the error and then the send/don't send this error garbage would come up and close IE after either selection. Luckily he had some HP back up software that took me some time to figure it's workings out as I'm more familiar with ghost. Well, he's up and running but if anyone knows what could have caused that and how to fix it I'd still appreciate it as I'm a net admin and "Knowledge is what!?"
