problem in ESS sound card

dear all
i have an ESS Solo-1 5.12.3047 sound card
i downloaded the driver from the mother copmany site.
during setup everything ran just fine.
i hook up the speakers, maximize the sound volume,try something to play
and..
nothing no sound
knowing that i did try another speakers and still no sound
what could be the problem?
 
Definately connected to the correct connector on the card? some of these older cards had a line-out as well as a speaker connector and if connected to this the sound will be much quieter....plus, line out may be muted!

Does the microphone port work?
