Problem gaming with oc'ed cpu

Anybody else had problems playing games, ie Soldier of Fortune or Serious Sam in this case, and had problems with them running when a system is oc'ed? I'm planning on upgrading again, and will most likely oc my system, but want to know if this is somewhat normal behavior with certain games on CPU's that're run out of spec.
I'm havin these problems, but I believe I got a CPU out of a "lame" batch, heh.

I would have thought that too, except for the fact, that even if I only up my FSB +1 (8.0x101), it won't run those games worth crap. I have a TBird 800, and running it only 8mhz out of spec shouldn't cause those problems. Plus, it even runs like crap when I downclock it to 7.5x100. And if I put it to 8.5x100, it has problems. I believe I just got a somewhat defective CPU.
