I just inserted a CDR with data on into the drive, and it wouldn't read a CD, acts like nothing is in it, but wehn i insert the CDR into the burner, it reads it. The DVDrom still ejects and takes in the CD correctly, but other than that, it doesn't read. Is there any ways that i can test to make sure it isn't dead, hopefully?

Have you rebooted? Are there any scratches on the CDs? Is auto-insert notification on in the settings for the drive and maybe you just expect the CDs to load right up? Can you access the drive at all by going through My Computer then the drive?

Otherwise, it's RMA time.

I just followed WIndows Help files, and it does play an audio CD, i will restart my computer right now.

btw, all the settings are on default, so auto-play is on. no, i can not access the drive using an alternate program (ie. Nero, Windwos Exploerer)
