Car needs it replaced, but nobody in California can sell the damn part. The person who needs it can install it himself even, but we can't figure out how to get it. He needs the direct fit one. Would anyone here have an idea here for me to tell him? His car needs to have this replaced like yesterday.

good idea, except every universal we've come across the company won't ship to California. And we've called every muffler shop in the area and they don't have anything. We need to find a place that has it, and doesn't care and will ship it to California.

Welcome to California, where you aren't allowed to replace your cat when it dies because that would mean altering your "original emissions system"

Pretty absurd that you're essentially forced to violate federal law because of 'better' state laws. You could at least 'make an effort' and use a 49 state legal cat, but no one will ship it to you...swell.

Is it clogged or just causing a code to be thrown? If the latter, find out if your area requires all monitors to be run before you can pass emissions. If not (federal law allows one unrun monitor), tell your friend to drive the car around town for a couple days without going over 50mph, then take it to be tested.

Yeah, that's not how you do that.

And they list one cat for 2.0L US vehicles...not for sale in California.
