Problem downloading from Seti@Home server

Hi, over this past weekend I've been having some trouble downloading data units from Seti's server. I use the the command line version in conjunction with Seti Driver. When I try to download new workunits from the server, it usually takes over an hour or fails completely. To download 10K it sometimes takes 5 minutes. Does anybody have any suggestions? Is there a different server I can tell Seti Driver to upload to?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Anandtech Forums!

You may wish to check out one of the proxies listed in this thread

To set this up under SetiDriver, click the little dot next to "Proxy Server", then enter the address, and port into the two boxes to the right.

Click on Save Config, then you can click on Transmit. This will then use one of the Team Public Queues, which will always have a store of work units for you :)

Welcome! :)

Probably your best solution would to be to contact one of the operators of the Team SetiQueues in THIS THREAD.

As for an example, I also use the CLI for a number of my clients, and the parameters look like:

c:\seti\seti1.exe -verbose -proxy federation.2y.net:443

Obviously, the bold face is for emphasis. ;) But by contacting the SetiQueue operator, in this case Engineer you can receive and transmit WUs to a proxy that doesn't have the same bandwidth bottleneck as Berkeley. :)

Don't see your name on our roster, PraetorianGuards. Are you thinking about joining up with us? :) Or do you have a different Seti Name?

Right now I'm on my school's team (UCSD) but I'm considering switching over to Team AnandTech. Everybody over here is so dedicated and friendly, which has impressed me alot!

If it helps your decision, PraetorianGuards, I highly would recommend the TeAm, and that is coming from me, a member of another team :)

I don't think its a bandwidth issue with there 100meg pipe;),..........unless you know something I don't?

I may have mis-spoke.. not so much a bandwidth issue as perhaps the number of users trying to get/dump work units at peak times; in that respect the SetiQueues hosted by others members of the TeAm are much easier to access. :)
