i was pulling my hair out for days. i bought a new western digital 80gb hard drive and my motherboard was not detecting it. i only had one drive in there. there are 2 jumper settings in the back for master. i never really noticed. one is for master as a single drive by itself, the other is for master with another drive present as slave. i set it to single master and it worked. thank god. just thought i'd let anybody else having problems know this. 🙂

40 pin IDE cable? WTF? Even DVD burners use 80 pin IDE cable now a days. I've been using 80 pin since... man, I don't even remember. Never had a problem setting jumper to CS for pretty much any, current, HD.
