Problem copying files between networked computers

I have my 2 desktops and a laptop networked through a router. I can copy and delete every comp's files through each one of 3. Problem is that whenever I copy files between the 2 desktops, the speed is normal. But when I try to copy files into or from the laptop, it would take HOURS to move 3gig of stuff. The laptop does this with both desktops. I have tried connecting the laptop to the same cable that I used on the desktops, but the speed is still slow. Laptop's websurfing speed is as fast as the 2 desktops. But whenever I transfer files with the laptop, and at the same time browse it through My Network Place, ithe window would lag really bad. It doesn't happen when I am transferring between the desktops. Is this an ethernet port malfunction on the laptop? Or should I reformat it?

Oh, I should mention that I could transfer files with normal speed with the laptop before I moved and got my 2nd desktop.

Check the roperties of the network card on the laptop and see what the connection speed is set to. Normally setting it to AUto works fine. But you could try specifying 100 full or 100 half and seeing if that makes a difference. Or remove the card from Device Manager and let windws reinstall it when you reboot next.
