problem connecting to internet with linksys router and card

I bought a new linksys 54G router and linksys 54G pc card for the laptop. I have SBC DSL. At first I was able to connect fine. Then for some reason I can't access the internet from the laptop. Then I can't connect from the desktop too which has a cable connection to the router. I had automatic configuration at first. When it didn't work, I tried changing to PPPoE. I can't even connect with that. So I change back to Auto, and I was able to get the desktop to connect. But I still can't access the internet with the laptop. Anyone know what I miss? I set up 128bit encryption.
