Problem connecting new notebook to existing network

Trying to add a Latitude D620 to my existing home network (three wired pcs, wireless xbox connected to a d-link 524 router.) I am able to connect the notebook (wired) through the router and get an internet connection, although I am experiencing repeated IP conflicts. When I try to connect wirelessly, the notebook hangs on acquiring the IP address. I cannot renew the IP address on the notebook at all.

In the router logs, it appears that the router is repeatedly leasing 192.168.0.101 to the laptop (like every second or two), then releasing it again. All of the computers are set to obtain IPs automatically, and the router is acting as a DHCP server, assigning values between 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199. The host computer is assigned 192.168.0.100. As far as I can tell, nothing else on the system is getting the .101 IP, so I can't figure out where the conflict is coming from. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If nothing shows up in your router's DHCP clients table (if the router supports this function) using the .101 address even when the laptop is off and you can confirm that none of your other computers or the XBox are set to use this IP address manually, you might have a neighbor "borrowing" Internet access from you by manually setting that IP address on their computer. If this is the case, you need to enable encryption on your router and possibly even take a look at the wireless MAC clients list and block their MAC address from accessing your router.

As a simple temporary fix, you could also manually set an IP address on your laptop to something like 192.168.0.50 to see if that will allow it to access the Internet normally. If so, then I would strongly suspect someone else is using your network with their computer set to the IP address 192.168.0.101.
